The Quiz

Hi Blog :)

Today we took the five major world religions quiz. I feel like I did okay on it but I was a little confused on the questions that had to do with the dates when each religions made. I don't remember if we talked about that or not, or I just didn't study that part of the notes. I hope I did good on the quiz. We also did a sporcle on the Bible vs. the Quran. We didn't do very well on it. It was difficult to tell which verse was from the Bible and which were from the Quran.

Quiz on Monday!

hi blog!!!!!

Today we reviewed for Monday's quiz. We practiced a Kahoot that Sam made during class. The quiz is going to be a bunch of questions and you have have to write if it is Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, or Judaism. I think I know most of the material, but I definitely need to study more over the weekend. Today we also learned more about Mr. Schicks movie career. We looked at the movies that he has worked on. He worked on Home Alone and a bunch of others. He told us about when he was in a car for a commercial and he got hit by a helicopter. He also told us the the kid from Home Alone made him a Valentines Day card.

World Religions

Heyyyy Bloggg!

Today we continued learning about different world religions. We reviewed christianity, then we took notes on Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Judaism. Islam is the second biggest religion, Hinduism is the third, Buddhism is the fourth and Judaism is the ninth. We learned the different beliefs of each religion, the founder, the holy book and the different places where people with these religions live. The holy book of Islam is the Koran and it is the Vedas for Hinduism, and the first five books of the Old Testament for Judaism. Buddhism does not have a book, instead they follow a set of rules that they live their lives by. You can also be another religion and also practice Buddhism, which I thought was very interesting. The test for this unit is on Monday.

New Unit

Whatssss uppp blogggg!

Today we went over the tests we just took. I didn't study, but it wasn't difficult, and I ended up getting a 98 on it. The one question I got wrong was the true or false one. Mr. Schick said everyone did good on this test, which is good. I'm really glad that I got a good grade on this test because it raised my grade, so that its not closes to a B anymore.

Today we also started a new unit. It is on different religions. We will study Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Judaism. We took notes at the end of class on Christianity. Christianity has 2.2 billion followers, and is the number one religion in the world. People all over the world are christian. There are also many different denominations of Christianity. We don't have class tomorrow, so we are covering the whole unit on Thursday and having a test on Friday :(

The test

Hi Blog ;)

Today we took a test on population, migration, and population pyramids. I forgot that it was today, and I didn't study for it. I studied in the beginning of class, but that was all. Even though I didn't really study for it, I still think that I did okay on it. I hope that I got an A on it, because my grade is already a 90 and I don't want it to drop to a B. The population pyramids were a little difficult, because  2 of them looked alike and I guessed on them. I'm glad that this test was multiple choice because it gave me a better chance of getting the correct answer.

Jeopardy

Heyyyy Blogggg!!!

We re-watched the Ted Ed video about population pyramids today. The first time we watched it I didn't really understand what it was saying, or remember anything about it, but no I do. It helped wrap up everything that we have learned in this unit. We also talked about the upcoming test, and what some of the questions might be on it. I also added a little to my notes while watching the video. Since tad's class was short we didn't have a lot of time to do stuff, but we got to watch Jeopardy. It was really fun watching it, and I knew some of the answers to the questions. Today's class was very fun. BYE.

Presentations pt 2

Hi Blog :(

We listened to another presentation today about Tanzania and Italy. The group did a really good job. Right now we have to grade the other people in our group and ourselves. I'm not sure sure what to give myself because I couldn't really present a solution, because there wasn't actually a real problem that Canada had. My group had a lot of trouble finding problems for Canada so I'm not sure if that affects our grade, because the project was supposed to be about finding solutions for the country's problems. I hope I didn't fail, because I already ahem a B in this class.

Presentation

Hey Blog!

Today my group presented the solution project to the class. Ours was about Canada and Yemen. I worked on the solutions for Canada. But I couldn't really find any solutions because there are no real problems that Canada is facing at the moment. I talked about the solutions that they have currently for problems that they are already solving. I don't think that I did well on the project since I didn't really have much information to talk about. I hope I don't do too bad because I already have a B in human geo. I also learned about other countries problems such as Colombia and Germany.

Group Project

Whats up Blog!?!!!!?

Today we started working on a group project. Reagan, Maddie, and Alex are in my group. We chose Yemen for our developing country and Canada for our post-industrial country. It took us awhile to choose but we finally decided on those two. For this project we have to find an issue that each country is dealing with right now. Then we have to find any possible solutions for those chosen issues. Right now we have found that Yemen has a lot of terrorism, so I think we need to find a solution for that problem. We are still trying to find an issue that Canada faces, but I saw that there is a disagreement about gun control. I will do more research to see if there are any more issues with either Yemen or Canada.

blog

Hi Blog!

Today we reviewed what we have learned about migration and population. We did this instead of having a pop quiz, which is good because I would have failed that quiz and been failing for the start of the second quarter. We talked about what crude birth and death rate is and also about total fertility rate. We also went over the countries that have the highest ad lowest life expectancy. I was surprised about how much the shadow knew about what we are learning. I liked this type of review because it was more like a class conversation instead of just reviewing. Hopefully this helped me so I don't fail the quiz.

In-Class Population Assignment

1) The top 10 most populous countries are China, India, the United States, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Russia and Japan. I think this is interesting because there are some countries that are developed in the list and some that are still developing. In class we have talked about why developing countries with high populations could have issues, such as not having enough food for everyone and not good enough health care.

2) The top 10 least densely  populated countries are Green Land, Mongolia, Western Sahara, Australia, Namibia, Ice Land, Mauritania, Guyana, Libya, and Suriname. This fact is interesting because I thought that Australia would have more people than they actually do. But it does make sense for the other countries. We didn't talk about population density in class, but it is the number of people per square mile.

3) The United States is 130th for its population growth rate. The rate is 0.8%. I chose this fact because it is strange that the number would be so small. In class we talked about how developing countries normally have a high population growth rate, so since the US isn't developing the rate would be smaller.

4) The net migration rate for the United States is 3.8 migrants/1000 of the population. The US is 35th in the world. This is interesting to me because I thought more people were migrating to the US. In class we talked about its pull forces such as, health care, jobs, religious freedom, political freedom and peace. Many people come to the US because of the opportunities and rights that they could have, that they don't in their country.

5) The Holy See, the Cocos Islands and the Pitcairn Islands have a zero net migration rate. I chose this fact because I thought that it was cool how they don't have any immigration or emigration. In class we talked about the formulas of the net migration rate, and what might influence the net migration rate.

I think Afghanistan's population will rise rapidly.
I think Brazil's population will rise slowly.
 Afghanistan                            Brazil
I think Australia's population might slowly decline.
 Australia                                  Chile
Fiji.                                     I think Chile's population will rise slowly.

I think Fiji's population is rising pretty rapidly.

Blog

Heyyy blog ;)

Today we rewatched the video from yesterday's class. We talked about it more, and about why some countries improved while most did. We also talked about why countries that have the opportunity to grow by using their oil don't. We also took a quiz about the video. I got an 8 out of 10. I knew the answers to the questions that I got wrong, I just wrote the wrong words for them. Instead of writing life expectancy and GDP per capita, I wrote lifespan and income. I hope it doesn't make my grade bad for that start of the second quarter, but it will probably be fine because of the grades that I will have for my other blogs.
