- Agora- a public open space used for markets and assemblies in Greece, center of athletic, artistic, spiritual, and political life in the city/state, especially Athens
- Polis- Political entities ruled by their bodies of citizens, origin words- politics, poll, metropolitan
- 508 BC- Democracy is introduced in Greece by Cleisthenes, he was selected as the leader, one of the greatest accomplishment of Greek culture. They formalized their democracy. The first time in recorded history a people had revolted against their rulers. US 1776, France 1789, china 1851+ 1949, Russia 1917
- Socrates- a Classical Greek philosopher credited as one of the founders of Western philosophy
- Death of Socrates- in 399 BC, he stood in front of a 500 person jury, he refused to recognize the gods recognized by the states, and he also corrupted the youth. If found guilty he would be killed.
- The Socratic Method- also known as the method of Elenchus. It is a form of cooperative argumentative dialogue between individuals, based on asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking.
- You were said to be an idiot if you didn't vote, they though you didn't care about your place in society.
