Site and Situation

Whats up blog ;)

Today we talked more about site, but we also started learning about situation. These two things help geographers describe where things are. Situation is the location of a place relative to others places. This helps us do two things. Number one is it helps us to find an unfamiliar place by comparing is location with a familiar one. It also helps us understand the importance of a location. Some places are important because they are accessible to other places due to their location. You would also use situation to identify important buildings, streets, and other land marks to direct people to a desired location. If someone asks me where Bel Air is I would say its north of Baltimore. There are also places that are more important because of their location. Such as Chicago, it has become a big city because it is close to a major water source, Lake Michigan.
